Cactus ID π₯²
Calling the #CactusClique π« I have this cactus that was labeled βCactusβ and Iβve just been having the hardest time trying to figure out what type of cactus it is. Even google image search seems to find similar looking ones but not particularly perfectly identical. Has anyone seen one like this before? I had it marked as Rebutia Krainziana but Looking at it again, I donβt think thatβs right. Parodia Formosa is looking similar, but still not 100% π€§ it looks like itβs starting to grow a pup out the side of it if that helps narrow anything down π«£
Any input is welcome π«ΆπΌπ΅

@PlantingPeace I have tested it several different ways and I am still coming up with an old lady cactus, species Mammillaria Hahniana. Here is mine.
@FirstCanna maybe? π
ππ₯² when I look it up I find some that look really similar and then there are others labeled the same that look so different π° I see some stretched out that look like if it was squashed into a ball it would look like it. Maybe mine is just too young to tell for now π₯² but I think you might be right when I keep looking. Iβll change it to be that for now at least π₯Ή. Thank you Stacey. π€ you give me hope π€£
@PlantingPeace you will get it sooner or later no worriesπππ
@FirstCanna that one has awesome spines
Yeah its scary sharp! π€£π€£π€£π€£ @SirLiquorice
@SirLiquorice yea, @RJG also thinks itβs in the mammillaria family π
thatβs 3 including @FirstCanna π Iβll take all your words for it. Hopefully it does flower next year, I hope that will help for sure. π€
@FirstCanna not gonna lie, you brave π€£ Iβm still nervous of spikes that long π«£ itβs super cool though π«ΆπΌ
@sarahsalith π€£ now I want to see what your golden barrel looks like π€
@PlantingPeace SORTA looks like this. Mine is more yellow (I keep it outside) - it's pretty small.
I have a Mammillaria, and it SORTA looks like that too- but the wrong colors.
Clearly you're going to have to wait for the expertise of @SirLiquorice οΏΌ

@sarahsalith π€£ I could see how they have similarities π
they are a bit diff though. I refuse to disregard your comments. All input is valid π€ even if it helps narrow down what itβs not. ππ₯°
@sarahsalith itβs not a golden barrel but thatβs a good guess. But youβll notice the spines grow out of the bumps that protrude out on mammillarias. The golden barrels donβt have those bumps that protrude out. Thatβs what makes me think itβs definitely a mammillaria but itβs difficult to tell which one. Thereβs so many different ones.
@PlantMompy it does look pretty similar! π― only mine doesnβt have any black colored spines π£ unless thatβs some thing that comes later π€π
@KikiGoldblatt interesting! It does look close. I think mine isnβt quest as βfluffyβ looking, but if it does start to look like it as it matures, it jus at might be π―
@tango Iβve accepted that o prob wonβt know for sure until next year hopefully if it flowers that will help, or if it changes at all in maturing π«
@PlantingPeace oh dear π€¦πΌββοΈ Donβt you love how helpful these stores are?? Still an adorable cactus! π π΅
@KikiGoldblatt yea, I think you might be right looking at it closer π
it just hasnβt gotten those interior fluffs yet π― and since thatβs a maturity thing, maybe it will puff out soon π€ Iβll switch itβs name for now to mammillaria hahniana π₯°
@tango πππ they be killing me with their tagsπ« π
