Yellowing leaves on an alocasia

Hi! I got this alocasia about a month ago and I have already lost two leaves. The smaller leaves near the base of the plant turn yellow, one at a time, and then droop. I repotted the plant in a chunky soil mix when I got it and follow the watering guidelines on the app, so I just don’t understand why it is turning yellow. It is in a west facing window, but does not get any direct sunlight due to an overhand outside. I don’t see any signs of pests, so I would appreciate some help since it is my first alocasia and I am determined to keep it alive! Thanks in advance.

Hi Kaitlin, something you may possibly be overlooking is too much sun. At midday place your arm by your plant facing the window. If it’s too hot on your arm it’s too hot on your plant and your plant will get damaged. Also place your finger in the soil if it feels too damp in other words, it’s a soil is sticking to your finger in clumps in the soil is too wet. Make sure you have adequate drainage at the bottom of the pot. I hope this helps. Good luck.πŸ‘βœŒοΈ
