You’ve got to have a piece of the trunk for it to become a plant. It’ll stay a single leaf and a lot of the time they either just die or they can root and stay a single leaf little plant.
@BambooLover I just took it out of the moss. It doesn’t have a piece of the trunk. :(
@Houseofplants Is there any stem at all?
@Houseofplants While it's not impossible to propagate a Ficus elastica from a leaf, it's not the most common or reliable method for this plant. Stem cuttings with a node or air layering are generally more successful ways to propagate a rubber plant. Leaf propagation can be attempted, but the success rate may be lower compared to the other methods mentioned.
While it won't grow into a tree it will be happy as a rooted leaf for a really long time!

@Houseofplants awww … I’m not sure I’m seeing any nodes or anything on that stem. If you want to keep trying and try for some roots on just the one leaf I’d put it in some soil instead. It’s a pretty leaf.
