dormant hoya

questions for my #Hoya friends, i bought osmo a few months ago & it hasn’t grown a lick. are hoya compactas typically like this? please send all your tips/tricks/recs, thank you!

other general info:
i haven’t fertilized it, roots are growing strong, it’s inside but less than a foot from the window, no signs of pests & no signs of decay #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads #HoyaCarnosaCompacta #HoyaAddicts
0ft to light, indirect
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
Do you have some more close up pics of it?

Hoyas should grow, once the roots are established. Completely dormant Hoyas in my opinion are dealing with root issues, or pests, or inadequate nutrients/light.

If there’s signs of nubby or aborted growth, that’s a pest problem. Some Hoyas have microscopic mites on them (thus why I ask for more pictures).

If you’re waiting for it to get super soft or wrinkled before you water it, you’re likely expericing root rot issues from it being to dry, and the plant is spending all its energy growing new roots.

And then for light.. if it’s in a north window it may not be adequate for it.
I feel your pain. Mine doesn’t grow either, so I’ll be following this thread. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Yes they are such slow growers for sure
@Michelle5986 they are very slow growers… but mine are both growing pretty good in the east window of my house… I even have a flower on one of mine…
@vosswata you might want to move it and give it a different soil… I looked mine up online and once I started using that soil mine took off…
@FirstCanna this is great soul I use it for almost all my plants
I added some Leca to it also just for more aeration @Michelle5986
@FirstCanna I like to add leca to all my mixes just for the aeration
Here are my rope plants @vosswata
Humidity was my hoya secret to growth. My compacta had zero growth until I stuck it in my milsbo cabinet with 80% humidity. It started growing like crazy, along with all my other hoyas.
