Your soil looks quite boggy. If it’s going to separate, unfortunately there’s not much you can do to save it. You do however have some green up top to take cuttings of and restart the plant! Kalanchoe are succulents and need very well draining soil, and only watered when dry, along with a lot of bright, indirect light. I would definitely try to repot it- of that stalk and the roots are brown/black and mushy, they need to be trimmed away with sterilized scissors. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions! These plants grow well from cuttings, so even if you have to restart it, it should grow quickly!
I agree with Deb- that sure looks like stem rot to me. The soil looks dense which does not allow the soil to drain, and that’s bad for succulents. I know you can take cuttings- and you have to let them air dry first for a few days or so to callous. But I’m not sure if water prop would be ok, or if propagating them in a fast-draining succulent soil mix would be better. Sorry I couldn’t be more help- I’m terrible with succulents ☹️
@PureRedvein93 @SillyPlantGirl just let them dry out a bit and pop them back into the soil. Make sure you’ve trimmed back all of the rotted part, and use new soil- preferably soil for succulents and a pot with lots of drainage holes.
