Tea leaves for fertilizer?
Hi there!
I drink a lot of loose leaf tea (especially the last week with the cold snap) and feel awkward just throwing the used leaves out. Can I use it to fertilize my jade plants? The answers when I searched werenβt clear, but I figured yβall would know. #SucculentSquad #

Im aure its perfectly safd snx on to use em. But im not sure hpw much nutrients woukd really be left from@loose leaf tea ? I lnow coffe grounds are great in compost. But they are much more dense and heavy than tea leaves. But if you saved enough and concentrayed them down im sure it would give yoyr plants someyhing
I drink a lot of tea too and feel bad throwing out the bags, so i looked into this idea too! This post was pretty helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndoorGarden/comments/utalqc/dried_used_tea_leaves_as_fertilizer/
According to this, unless you have composters in your plantβs pot (worms, certain fungi, etc,) it doesnβt really do much for the plant. If you really want to make the investment though, iβve heard of people using indoor compost bins for this kind of thing!

I use my used tea leaves and tea bags and soak them in water for a day and night then dilute it with regular water and water my plants with it . They definitely don't hate it and in my opinion it's been making them happy. Been doing it for 3 years now. During the warm months I let them steep outside in the sun light for an entire day but since it's cold I just let him steep In the house.
@SconnieHBIC Welcome to the Greg community! Yes, you can use used tea leaves to fertilize succulents. Tea leaves are rich in nutrients and tannic acid, which can improve soil quality and create a more fertile environment for plants. You can use them the following way. Compost tea: Steep compost in water to create a nutrient-rich liquid that you can apply to the soil around your succulents.
Mix with soil: Mix used tea leaves with soil before planting.
Sprinkle on flower beds: Sprinkle nutrient-rich tea leaves directly onto your flower beds.
Pour tea on leaves: Prepare tea and pour it on the leaves of your succulents. Although I am not sure that pouring any type of liquid directly on succulent leaves is recommended!!! I would stay away from doing that.
