Hi Alison! Dry leaves dropping might be because you have it near an A/C vent. Hereβs info I got off Google for my Umbrella Treesβ¦.β When a Schefflera drops its leaves, it is usually a dramatic reaction to sudden environmental stress or improper watering. The Top 3 Causes & Solutions- Overwatering and Soggy Soil: This is the most common trigger. If the soil stays constantly wet or the pot lacks proper drainage, the roots suffocate and stop supporting the leaves. The Fix: Poke your finger deep into the dirt. If it feels wet, stop watering until the top 2 inches dry out completely. Ensure you dump out any leftover water sitting in the bottom tray. Cold Drafts or Temperature Changes: Scheffleras hate sudden shifts in climate. Being placed too close to an active air conditioning vent, a drafty winter window, or a heater will cause them to shed whole leaf clusters overnight. The Fix: Move the plant to a stable room with a steady climate between 65Β°F and 80Β°F, away from direct paths of blowing air. Relocation Shock: If you recently moved the plant to a new spot in your home, it is common for it to drop leaves while adjusting to the new light levels. The Fix: Keep it in bright, indirect sunlight and let it rest. Avoid moving it around multiple times.β I hope this helps!
