Any tips for converting to self-watering & other disabili...

Looking for some insight & ideas! I have a complex chronic illness that is making plant care incredibly difficult. The most difficult part is maintaining consistent watering, so I’m considering converting all or most of my plants to self-watering—especially the small ones. I don’t want to shock my plants, though! I also need to do this economically. All indoor plants—I have a large greenhouse, a Milsbo cabinet, and I want to design a cost effective plant wall. Height isn’t a problem, as I can functionally stand and ambulate to the extent my pain & fatigue allow. If anyone has experience with this or has general tips for converting to self-watering, etc., please share! Thanks! #selfwateringplanter #PlantAddict #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #HangingPlants #DIYPlanter
ive seen some affordable diy’s people have made self watering pots out of supplies from the dollar store using plastic cups, cutting holes in the bottom, and attaching some string or rope that is able to touch the dirt and dips into the water source. as far as i can tell, the plants will be okay as long as they are not submerged in the water, only the connecting string/rope. im curious to try this myself but so far i’m also still gathering information. good luck!
You can buy there at home depot or Lowes and make your own self watering pots. Pokevthe in the plastic ones and put into another pit Hope this makes sense. I have fibromyalgia and some days it's hard to get out of bed!! Take care!! 🐞🪴🌵🏜🦋
Good for you for finding a way to make this hobby work for you! We have to maintain joy in plants, and if they’re causing harm to us in some way physically or emotionally, I say change it up! I’m experimenting with a couple of self watering set ups myself, especially for my thirstier plants like aglonema. They seem to be doing great! I got some self watering planters on AMZ. Plants seem to like a wet/dry cycle, so maybe wait before refilling when they empty? And this may be obvious but definitely wouldn’t use on cacti and succulents.
