How do I properly repot a root bound plant?
This is the first plant I’ve had where its roots look like what I’ve seen other root bound plants look like before.
I’ve had plants where the roots are growing out the bottom of the pot and they’re fairly easy to repot but I’m not sure if there’s a specific way/technique to repotting a root bound plant so that it can thrive in the new pot.

Hi!
If your plant likes to be root bound in its pot, just make sure that when repotting, the bulb takes up at 3/4 of the new pot.
Obviously thanks to Greg’s help, you can find what pot and soil will work best for your plants new home and give it the best chance at being happy. I just repotted my Ficus Benjamina (also likes to be rootbound) and Greg gave me all the info I needed.
Most of all, as I’m sure you’ve found with most plants, confidence and love is key. Don’t be afraid to do what needs to be done to give your plant it’s best life!!!

@GoodyCoffeecups this is also a great tip! Definitely get into the roots gently before repotting, and poke out some of the old soil and darker looking roots with your finger or maybe a chopstick. Don’t go too crazy but this will help your plant acclimate better.
