Wait to fertilize until the beginning of the active growing season, which is the start of spring. Then you can feed it with a balance fertilizer (look for numbers 1-1-1 or 5-5-5) and feed it once a month for the duration of its active growing season. You can also get an organic fertilizer, which has less risk of fertilizer burn. I use WeTheWild liquid plant growth concentrate, it's gentle enough to use at every watering (diluted of course).
