Hi @Uzi š. The flowers are so cute! After the flowers have gone by they will go to seed. Both flowers and seeds take energy so your plant wonāt grow as much during this time. If you want your coleus to have lots of showy leaves and be a more bushy/less leggy šŖ“ you have to pinch š¤ her back. Enjoy the flowers for now but then pinch them off. A little dilute fertilizer helps. I like We the Wild āGrowā. You add it to your regular watering do no added steps and itās organic. Coleus like dappled light so keep that in mind with a grow light. Enjoy her! Sheās got beautiful colors on her leaves šš
@Uzi Hi Squirrel! The way I make my Coleus so big is I allow the flowers to bloom and the seeds to fall! It doesnāt take long at all for those seeds to sprout up! You wouldnāt believe the new babies mine had! It was incredible! I bet there were 50-80 of them! This reminds me itās time to get mine up out of the ground and bring her inside before she dies off! She is so beautiful and had grown so much this year, there is no way ima let that happen! Good Luck!šŖ“š¼
@Uzi TY so much for best answer ā
That is so cool!
And also a little odd, as I have never seen a coleus flower that wayš .. usually they make a kind of christmas-tree-shaped stalk at the top of each stem, not a single flower from each leaf. Never seen thisš Making me wonder if it maybe isn't a coleus, but I haven't figured it out yetš

@MockingJay itās a chocolate cherry coleus specifically :) (I didnāt grow her from seed, but I personally know the person who did) but yes itās definitely weird š¤·āāļø

All of these people gave you great advice and keep up on the deadheading for sure!!!
Coleus dies off if it goes to seed. @Ponytailmom Gets away with letting the flowers seed and drop to make more because they are outdoors.
Since yours is indoors it won't work the same way. The flowers need to be pollinated š to make new plants from seed.
Once the plant goes to seed it will die off and you'll lose the coleus.
I also grow mine indoors years round. From seed my son gifted me a few years ago. I keep them going by taking cuttings. Every year when they start to slow down in growth. Then it's a fresh start for the next year. They root very easily in water.
Also, a tip I learned for them indoors. Ants š absolutely love the flowers. So, if you start to notice ants finding their way in. That why, they smell the nectar and then the whole ant army marches right on in!!!
Hopefully they won't do that for you. But if they do just pinch the flowers off right away and you will stop getting the ants.

@SuperbRaspfern Oh ok! Should I take off just the flowers or the whole top? š
I have never grown coleus before this year
@Uzi Just the flower if you pinch with your fingertips right below the flower the flowers pop right off. It only takes a second.
They stay even nicer if every time a stem grows 2 sets of leaves you pinch off the top set. Because then they branch each time you pinch off the top 2 leaves. Then they branch quickly multiplying stems and they stay full and lush that way. Otherwise you get one stem that grows up and the single stems gets sparse and the older leaves die off.
