Neglected πŸ˜”

#Taro so I’m not even sure I have identified correctly what this plant is. Over the past 2.5 years I’ve not taken good care of this guy and it clearly shows. A repot is first and foremost but was almost wondering if I should just cut everything at the (very outgrown) stem and just start over or just get rid of what’s bad and hope what has potential gets better. It used to look sooo good, you can see in my gallery the long decline it took 😒. Any and all advice (especially if you identify this as something else.. just looks wrong to me)
8ft to light, indirect
Last watered 2 years ago
I would say definitely chop and prop. It looks like it was overwatered based on the wrinkly yellow leaves and the mushy looking stem in the pot (though it might just be the picture). I would guess root rot. To do this i would cut the stem where it starts browning or getting mushy and then remove the yellow leaves. Let it callous over a bit and then put it in water. It should come back. And as for the identification, i’d say it’s either a taro or a pothos. Good luck and update! πŸ’•
If it’s taro, it propagates from tubers. I don’t think you’ll have good luck with cut stems. I would trim it up and refresh the soil a bit and then give it lots of light and water on a better schedule b
