What’s wrong with this aralia?

His leaves are droopy, some yellowing and some crispy. Is he receiving an incorrect portion size of water, or is it a different issue?
4ft to light, direct
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
Hi @Armar1967 it looks like you have some pest damage and possible fungus issues.
@Momof83ans How would I diagnose/treat it, then?
@Armar1967 if you can, start by taking it outside and spraying it down really well with a heavy spray of water undersides of leaves, trunk etc. then unpot it and rinse the roots really well so you see what’s healthy and what’s not. The healthy roots will be white, the unhealthy will likely be mushy and dark. With clean and sterilized sheers cut off any bad roots. Repot it with new potting mix in a clean pot with good drainage. Then with clean and sterilized sheets again, you’ll need to chop off dead leaves and any part of the plant that looks dark and rotted. Hopefully after all that you won’t have to treat for pests but it might not hurt to get some fungicide and treat it for fungus. Quarantine the plant away from others for at least two weeks. Before bringing it back into its environment make sure your other plants are pest free and clean the area well.
