Gnats

#MarbleQueenPothos

I have a bad gnat infestation. How do you get rid of them? I tried Hydrogen peroxide, drying out the soil, i have those yellow trap sticky thingies everywhere. I don't want to use any pesticides unless I really have to. They're just everywhere and I swear they're trying to kill me, always trying to fly into my nose and eyes lol
13ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 10 months ago
Try cinnamon
Gnats and fruit flies do not like peppermint. For spray use about use water with peppermint oil.
Sprinkle Diatomaceous earth on top of the soil but don’t water it in otherwise it won’t work. There’s also nematodes which are a biological pest control but those won’t take care of the adults, just the larvae in the soil
And if you have any more plants other than your pothos you’ll have to treat them as well
Bacillus thurogensis, it is the bacteria in mosquito dunks and many other products. No chemicals. Just bacteria that feed on the larval form.
I put a top layer of coarse silica sand over the soil, and that was enough to stop the cycle.
Mosquito bits
@ShiningGinger32 The product I’ve shown is for big issues like yous . I don’t like using it but it works very well and can be sprinkle on top layer or mix into first inches of soil or so of soil . Boom done dead . I’m not in the habit of using such products but drastic pests need drastic measures . Diatomaceous earth as mentioned above will eventually kill them as with the mosquitoes bits but will take longer
Neem oil is a pesticide but still natural and works beautifully if you mix a few drops into the water for your plants, worth a try if you’re getting desperate (takes a few weeks to work fully though)
