Goldfish Plant Looking Sad :(
Hey all! I got my goldfish plant about 2 months ago and I canβt seem to figure out whatβs wrong with it. I see a little bit of white fuzz in the dirt. Iβve tried to cut back on the watering a bit. I feel like the leaves are curling up. Whatβs wrong?!
1ft to light, indirect
4β pot with drainage

π Diagnosis Summary:
1. White fuzz in soil
= Likely saprophytic fungus, harmless but a sign of excess moisture or poor airflow.
2. Curling leaves
= Often due to root stress, either from overwatering, compacted soil, or low humidity/light.
3. Northeast window
= Might not provide enough consistent bright indirect light, especially in spring.

β Action Plan to Revive Ronaldo
1. Remove the White Fuzz
β’ Gently scrape off the top 1β of soil and replace with fresh, dry potting mix.
β’ Optional: sprinkle cinnamon on the soil surface (natural antifungal).
2. Check Soil and Drainage
β’ Gently slide the plant out and feel the root ball:
β’ If soggy, let it air out for a few hours before repotting in fresh mix.
β’ Use a light, airy potting mix (African violet mix or peat/perlite combo works well).
3. Adjust Watering
β’ Water only when the top 1β2 inches feel dry, and always empty saucers.
β’ Consider repotting to a clay pot to allow better evaporation if rot is recurring.
4. Increase Light
β’ Move closer to a bright, filtered south or east-facing window.
β’ A grow light for a few hours a day can help until summer light improves.
5. Humidity Boost
β’ Curling can also signal low humidity. Place on a humidity tray, group with other plants, or mist occasionally.

πΏ Bonus Tips:
β’ Fertilize lightly every 2β4 weeks during spring/summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
β’ Prune any leggy or weak growth to encourage bushiness.
