Joseph's Coat root rot?
Opal was tipping over in her pot this morning, it looks bad, can she be saved? ð Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated #greggang #happyplants (not today) #cactusclique #succulentsquad #plantsmakepeoplehappy

@sassylimey would cut as far as I could away from the rot and then just a wee bit to make sure you don't get any infected area. Then I would let it dry out and just chill until it roots. I was given a bunny cacti?(I think thags what it is) anyways it was the same way. I cut it and clean it wjth some alcohol and hydrogen peroxide and let it chill. It's been chilling for a month or so and is rooting wonderfully and it's the only cutting I haven't messed with, checked on, and today was my first day to give it any water. Lkl
What you can try is cutting a wee bit above that darker green and removing the root rot. The. Let it sit and air dry for a day or two. That will let the end callous up. You can put it back into very dry soil. It may regrow the roots. I usually let mine it about week before I water just to make sure everything is dry and calloused.
@Cilghal hehe, I was a second late lol I definitely agree with you ð
Oh no! Your cactus is rotting! Unfortunately you canât save it since itâs rotting bottom up, meaning the rot is spreading up the cactus pad. Maybe try propagating the smaller buds? ððĩ
You can try what others suggest but it may be difficult and not guaranteed. You can use powdered sulfur to help the wound if youâll cut. Good luck! @Sassylimey

How do I prop the smaller buds @kscape, I'm so ð
@kscape @Sassylimey you can propogate it just cut off the rotting bit and let it callus for a week then plant it
Thank you so much @Cilghal @AguaViviente @kscape @MischievousMoth I appreciate your help. You guys rock ðĨ° I did cut off the rotten part and after she callouses I will pot her up and hope and pray she makes it ðĩððĨ°
ðĨš I'm sorry, Sarah.
I have never successfully saved a Cactus that did not have a growth point. What @kscape said makes sense.
I think that twisting off the little arms would be the first thing I do. Then, I would cut it very near that bottom node; maybe you can get growth from that node. ðĪ·ââïļ
Since you have the small growth, hopefully you can save that part of the cactus. However, allowing the rest to dry out for daysïŋžïŋžïŋžïŋžïŋž (3 or 4) may give you the best shot at saving the larger part of the cactus.ïŋž
Keeping in mind that Kscape said you might not be able to save the main pieceïŋžïŋž BUT the only thing it's gonna cost you to try is a little bit of time. ïŋž
Make sure you put it inïŋž cactus soil and maybe some pumice. When I was rooting my cactus pads, I watered them every other time Greg told me to.

Ok Sarah, surgery performed ðĨš I will leave her to callous then try planting all those pieces, fortunately the mushy part didn't go all the way up into the green. All I can do now is try my best to save her. I have cactus soil but no pumice, I do have perlite, would that work @sarahsalith
@Sassylimey that should be fine. Just avoid the urge to water. You won't believe how long they can go without water!
@AguaViviente great minds!
@Sassylimey watch her to see if she continues to rot. Hopefully you caught early enough.
I hope so too @Cilghal
