Haworthia Cooperi
Hello plant people 🪴 I was wondering why my haworthia keeps remaining “closed” although it has a bit more space to grow into.. I repotted it some time ago in order to provide a bit more space for babies + mother plant, but it seems not doing much more than before (tbh I was expecting a fuller and wider growth of both babies and main plant, although I think it’s a pretty slow one..). Any suggestion? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #SucculentLove

@EatMoreVeggies like she’s deep in thought while doing absolutely nothing. Totally normal. These little translucent cuties are slow growers by nature, like the introverts of the succulent world. Just because she has room to stretch doesn’t mean she’s ready to. She’s easing into it like me … who just got a bigger apartment but I still sleeps on the old couch 🥴That “closed” look? Think of it like her cozy hoodie….she’s not being shy, just snug. She only opens up when the vibes are right: bright, indirect light, not too much water, and zero chaos. If she senses drama (read: overwatering or too much change), she’ll turtle up again. You’ve done the right thing giving her space, now it’s her turn to decide when to party. She’s likely focusing underground first, growing new roots and adjusting to the space before putting on a show up top. That’s how Haworthias roll slow, steady, and on their terms. Just keep giving her light, let her soil dry out between sips, and don’t rush her. She’s not stuck she’s just doing a silent glow-up underground. Trust the process when she’s ready, you’ll know. And it’ll be so worth the wait.
@TidyTigerpear I remember u commented under my previous first post about my haworthia, maybe u got any tips? 🥴
@JungleDreamer amazing eheh, I’ll wait then.. many thanks! 💃🏻
@TheConservator well, they do not open up completely, but I think they should appear less constricted, so to say.. additionally, I know there’s a little flower bud in-between the leaves of mine, so it would be great if it eventually showed up 🙆🏻♀️
Haworthia, atleast in most cases, are "summer dormant". Meaning they slow down or stop growing during the hottest summer months. I say most cases because it's sometimes it depends on where you live, how much light it's getting, if it has developed a internal time clock of some sorts 😆 I just know, living in Jacksonville Florida, when it gets too hot (stays above 75 at night) mine go dormant for sure, they loose their vibrancy, and sometimes look like they're dying but don't fret! Just don't water or fertilize pretty much at all and they'll take off as soon as it cools down a little!
I agree with @TheConservator and @CrazyPlantLady9
She is summer dormant, which is a good thing. It allows her to rest and store energy for fall growth.
Also, they do not open up. She will stay exactly like that! 🩷
That flower won't happen.
If you mean the old black bud it's already dead. I would remove it so it doesn't drain energy. She's dormant now and nothing will happen. Plus it's already expired. Flowers will be green when first starting out.

@SuperbRaspfern it isn’t black actually, I’ll post here a pic of the (potential) bud (?) … any suggestion? I’m not expecting smth really, maybe I’d better remove? Btw thank u for the confirmation about dormancy! 🪴
@EatMoreVeggies Awe cute look at her all tucked away in there.
Yes, I would remove her a healthy flower will have a long stem that developed first way above her and then open. The stems are very long and way above them.
They drain energy and even more energy if they go to seed. She will struggle with it right now since she is dormant.
