I got a tradescantia finally :D any tips?
He looks like he's been happy. I got him from a farmers market today.
I'm gonna clean off the dead flowers that I can see on the top.
Should I repot with perlite? I only see organic soil with nothing but thin wood chips in the cup. How chunky do they like the soil?
How often to water would also be helpful to know. How dry do I let him get? Would the usual mostly/completely dried out work?
Does he need fertilizer? I've never really given any of my plants - besides orchids - food before ^^'

Hello ๐
They are ground cover plants, so if you can get a couple of the nodes to root on the soil, the plant has a stronger base for growing.
I really don't find mine picky at all when it comes to soil, and I do let mine dry out quite a bit before watering again ๐ง๐ชด
The leaves will go a bit soft when it is desperate for a drink ๐คญ
I use a very diluted fertiliser with every watering. ๐ชดโจ๏ธ
The biggest thing with these, are that you should try never to get the leaves wet, as they will get brown spots if you do ๐
They need plenty light, can even take some direct light if they are transitioned slowly into it ๐คฉโจ๏ธ
And if you want the plant more full, they root VERY easily when you prune and just stick the stem right back into the soil ๐โจ๏ธ

@ExecAudreyficus Tradescantia Nanouk, also known as the "Wandering Dude," is a relatively low-maintenance plant that thrives with bright, indirect light, well-draining soil, and moderate watering. It benefits from occasional pruning and fertilization during the growing season.
Detailed Care Guide:
Light: Tradescantia Nanouk prefers bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch its leaves.
Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix to prevent waterlogging.
Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the spring and summer growing seasons.
Pruning: Prune to remove dead or damaged leaves and to encourage bushier growth.
Temperature and Humidity: Tradescantia Nanouk thrives in average room temperatures and humidity.
Pests: Regularly inspect for pests like mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites.
Toxicity: Be aware that Tradescantia Nanouk is mildly toxic if ingested, so it's best to keep it away from pets and children.
