Any advice for aphids on roses?
I've got miniature roses, and theyre ALWAYS being attacked by aphids and all sorts of bugs. Tiny black ones, weird whispy looking white ones, currently I'm just cleaning them with tissue, but does anyone have a better solution? I can't spray them with water or they get fungal problems.
(No pictures as I just finished cleaning them, I can update with more though if that's useful.) #pestcontrol #rose #rosecalathea #pestbegone

Dawn dish soap in water. Mix 1/4 cup soap in 30 ounces of water. Mix and spray it onto the rose bush to saturate. Donβt worry about the bubbles. You want to suffocate the pests. Let the mixture run down the stems. Wait ten minutes. Hose off the entire plant. Let the soapy water run into the soil. Pick off any pests that donβt fall off. Keep rinsing. Stream hydrogen peroxide into the soil and listen for fizz. Wait an hour. Rinse soil lightly. Check the plant again every day and spritz away any aphids that may return. Itβs their offspring. Continue to check your plant for pests and only spray the foliage and rinse. No need to water the soil every time.
One thing Iβve learned is that pests donβt like settling into or into plants that get regular showers or baths. I make it a point to bathe my plants once a month to help prevent pests. Sometimes, new plants bring problems but itβs not you. It just happens. If it helps to know, despite the baths, a new plant brought in a problem that caused me to treat 30 plants yesterday. You arenβt alone. Donβt give up. Keep fighting for your plantβs health. Itβs a gardening life. π«Άπ½πΏ
