SLIMY Calathea Musaica

The edge of my Calathea Musaica is white and slightly slimy. I don't know why. Is it over watered/ under watered? Or sick? Helppp. #planttherapy #help #helpneeded #seymour #seymourtheplantsaviour #plantsavers
Thank you 😊
10ft to light, indirect
11” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
If the leaves are becoming transparent and mushy, I would assume overwatering. How long have you had it? If you just got it, it could also be from watering sitting on the leaf for a long period of time at the shop. This would be best indicated by just the single leaf being mushy while the rest of the plant looks alright. If it’s a newer leaf, it could be spider mites.
@plantt @SuperblyLilac thanks for your help πŸ₯Ή. The plant is also a bit transparent which is not normal. I bought the plant like a month ago.
@PlantsForFun well, my best guess would still be overwatering. A month is a good amount of time for a plant to acclimate to a new environment, so I wouldn’t assume it’s that anymore. Have you repotted it? I know the substrate calatheas usually come in is way too dense and water-retaining to keep long term without causing root rot. If you haven’t, I would definitely suggest doing that as a good first step :)
