Pests on Hoya Macrophylla πŸ˜₯

What is this on my Hoya’s leaves? I never had that on any other plants and I almost feel like there are several problems at the same time… πŸ€”πŸ˜
This has been my most frustrating/challenging plant, ever since I got her. I never could figure out how to make her happy, always wondering if I was overwatering, underwatering (I only water when the soil has dried a good bit.). The leaves have been getting limp and now she’s obviously under attack of something. I just wiped the leaves with a (highly diluted) mix of neem oil/surfactant + water. (I don’t have insecticidal soap so if you can recommend your favorite one, that would be awesome!). πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™‚

She is severely dehydrated, first I would check her root system out. If I looks good give her a good soak and fresh soil. (Add some bark and perlite to your current mix) If there is no roots she will need to regrow them, i suggest spaghnum moss in a plastic tub for higher humidity. I hope this helps! 🌈
Can you please include photos?
@AwesomePlants Ooops!!! Totally forgot them! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Weird. It seems like there's a lot going on with that plant.

The leaves shouldn't be wrinkly. The soil should be chunky (think orchid mix and soil together).

Maybe trimming that plant will help refocus the growth. Are those leaves closer to the end of the stems?
macrophyllas are known for being more temperamental than other beginner/common hoya types, I had one and it haaated me lol so I unfortunately don’t have much advice other than don’t take it personally πŸ˜‚ for insecticidal soap I use a simple handmade diluted dish soap and distilled water blend. I also use Physan 20 concentrate (you have to waaaay dilute it like 1 tap to 1 gallon of water) which is a fungicide, virucide, bactericide, and algaecide. i also like β€œmighty mint” plant spray in addition to neem oil and i rotate between those too.
@sarahsalith It’s pretty much all of them and it’s almost like each one of them has a different issue!… 😭
@JCPlantProper I let it dry almost completely between waterings. πŸ˜• By β€œrinse it” do you mean rinse the leaves? Or water it by running water through the soil till it comes out the other side?… πŸ€”
@hoyahead That makes me feel so much better!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ I really think she hates me too and I totally don’t β€œget her” ! πŸ™„πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I think we’re slowly moving toward death do us part or rehoming… Sigh…
My macrophylla is temperamental too!
@HoyaAddict That’s the roots, (after I gave her a good soak), and I cut 2 leaves at the top of one of the stems. There is a tiny mini beginning of a leaf at the very base of one of the 2 stems so she isn’t a gonner yet. πŸ˜… We’ll see how she looks tomorrow, and I’ll keep treating for pests since I don’t know what the spots were.
Mines is temperamentally toooooo. I thought I was crazy! 🀣🀣🀣 I was like what the eff is your problem?!?? The very first time I watered mines it went limp and got edema on the leaves so then I was afraid to water it. I always try to remember @HoyaAddict taco tip.
I think we are FINALLY at an ok spot.. but yes I feel like every Hoya has a slightly different need. I thought they would be an easy plant. Nope!
@HoyaAddict Greg is bugging so pic #2 didn’t make it. That’s after a nice long soak.
@ManyLime I’ll take a Calathea any day over the Macrophylla! Lol… This one is major stress, I feel like I can’t do anything right by her! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚
Ehhhh... calathea just say screw it, I'll die now! 🀣🀣🀣
Did the soak help?
You know my silver kro.. ugh I can't spell that thing... hoya.. gives me MORE trouble than this one. Constantly limp leaves that I don't know if it's too much or not enough water.. I'm on the verge of dropping it in the trash by accident πŸ™„
The leaves never seem to fully firm up the Hoya leaves usually do.
Hoya:the hidden drama 🀣🀣🀣
@BeesZenGarden Hi Bee, in that last picture after that soak, your plant looks beautiful and healthy! I think your being so concerned and attentive, has helped her!
@BeesZenGarden She looks good! Roots are so fine that’s why they’re prone to root rot sigh. I’d keep her in a high humidity spot now and watch her, if she starts getting better that’s awesome if she’s struggling please message me! 😊😘
@ManyLime πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I think you’re right! Hidden drama, it is!!… Underwatered? Limp! Overwatered? Limp!… And now what do WE do!??… 😭 It doesn’t help that my hygrometer just died!… πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I think we need a Hoya clinic # section! I’ll add that to my post! πŸ˜‚β€¦ Don’t accidentally drop it in the trash, please! I’m still shivering when I think about @sarahsalith β€œaccidentally” dropping her calathea in a FIRE!… πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚
@BeesZenGarden OMG that sounds horrible!!😱
@BeesZenGarden "accidentally". Calatheas are #NeverAgain plants for me.
@sarahsalith I’m sure everybody has a β€œblack list” of never again plants. πŸ˜‚ Mine is empty for now but a few plants nearly made it there…Lol Orchids have been testing me for sure… Lol
@HoyaAddict Thank you! πŸ€— I’m in Florida so even with the A/C the humidity is always between 52-57%. I think that’s why most of my plants are happy!… Lol We’ll see how they do in the colder months, this will be my 1st winter in this house… πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€πŸž
you know I gotta do it to ya, Bee 😏
@hoyahead Lol! πŸ˜‚ You’re right!! I thought I had already selected one!… πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
@BeesZenGarden Thanks ☺️
@BeesZenGarden I also agree with @HoyaAddict on this πŸ’―
