Is my balloon cactus still alive?

So I haven't looked at this cactus for a while and just noticed this white stuff, cactus itself is more grey than green. Is it still alive? And if yes, is it worth saving?๐Ÿ˜ฌ

It may be corking, cactus sometimes do that, is it mostly at the bottom of the plant?
Naturally over time a cactus will begin to cork in an effort to provide a solid base of support for future growth.
Ohhhh. That cactus looks a LOT different than the picture on your plant card. That balloon looks deflated, for sure.

I would pick it up. If it feels light and hollow, it's popped. It does not look healthy and it doesn't look like corking. Corking usually forms at junctions or at the base of a cactus, or where there's been physical damage.

I don't think your balloon cactus is looking too hot. ๐Ÿซ  I'm sorry.

If you pick it up and have more questions, you can always hit "reply" or "@" and tag me. (:
