What is happening.

Hi guys, I bring updates on little Rick's condition....
There were two little cacti, but it is with great sadness that I announce that the smallest one is no longer with us... πŸ˜”πŸ™πŸ» (it turned mushy/shriveled/dark in colour)
Now, I assume that the problem was overwatering, unfortunately. Perhaps the drainage wasn't ideal, and then the bigger one would eventually meet the same tragic fate πŸ’”... but I decided to leave him be, as so far he hadn't shown signs of being unwell.
Since then, however, he does look a little droopy, has darkened a bit and feels soft, but it seems that he started to root?? πŸ€¨πŸ€” I don't remember seeing that last I checked and he was already doing less than peachy. So what do I do now 😭😭

Additional info: When I watered him (a good while ago) I used fertilizer; His soil is completely dry at this stage; he's been getting a great deal of sunlight; not long after I brought him home I dipped his feet into rooting powder (that was before the passing of the little one, which never rooted)
