Tips for Alocasia Polly

Just brought home my newest babe. Meet Cadmus. Hoping he does well with the reporting but understand these plants are more difficult than many of my others. Any tips and tricks from the #AlocasiaPolly #AlocasiaAddicts community to help him thrive would be appreciated!

Only thing I can suggest is a well draining soil with a slightly bigger pot depending on the roots! πŸ€—

As many Alocasia’s as I have- I’ve had my main struggles with Pollys the most πŸ₯΄ I feel like they’re finicky. I suppose it could be because I bought the first 2 on clearance not knowing anything about Leaf spot 🫣 and neither one survived. I just got a new one over the weekend and I want to repot it so bad πŸ˜… but am scared! Haha!
My tip would be don’t rush to repot, because alocasia can be so sensitive to change.
Updated my comment because the phone rang when I was typing it! But my alocasia poly was in very good shape when I brought it home and a have not repotted it, and it’s still great! I have purchased two others that for various reasons i thought needed to be repotted and they are both struggling. I wish I wouldn’t have touched them.
@nellz4estfairyz well it’s too late for that lol, it was in a tiny grow pot and needed a real home and better soil. I suppose I will just hope for the best!
@FirstCeratiola well on a positive note I believe that the Polly is supposed to be the most resilient or the most easy going of the alocasias.

@S.ham13 me too and all of my friends. We all would end up with one leaf for months then it would die after a new one came up. Which is common for elephant ears, but this particular species grows so slow
