Yes, if kept indoors they can flower year round! Whenever they are happy!
definitely looks like itโ€™s going to bloom! that certainly can bloom at this time of year if theyโ€™re kept in the right conditions with light, heat and moisture!
Our cactus expert @SirLiquorice would love this!!
It definitely looked like it's blooming, so pretty ๐Ÿ˜
Yep thatโ€™s awesome. Looks like the flowers on mine. If they get pollinated then they will grow fruit with seeds after the flowers are gone.
You have it listed as a mother of hundreds but it appears to be a mammillaria of some type. You can update the plant type to help make more accurate watering reminders. But itโ€™s probably similar watering habits to a mother of hundreds
@Jeroen @SirLiquorice have you some great advice. Heโ€™s our cactus expert.
@SirLiquorice do you also have a suggestion what type it could be? What type are those cacti on the picture?
@Jeroen those are also mammillarias but I am not sure exactly what type. As long as you have it identified as a mammillaria then watering reminders should be accurate enough. Just make sure not to overwater. Some are a little more rot prone than others. Always better to underwater than overwater
@Jeroen I have multiple different mammillarias. Some have different color flowers. But since there are so many types it can be confusing trying to identify which exact type of mammillaria it is
This one flowers non stop. All year it has had flowers since winter ended. It was covered in flowers all over
@SirLiquorice you are so lucky! This is the first time it blooms, I really took care of him this year so I am really excited that it does. I had not expected it.
Can it be that they have a different color of flowers when they get older? Or do you think it is just a specific type of mammillaria?
@Jeroen I donโ€™t think the flowers will ever change color. I have different mammillarias and some just have different color flowers
This is when it was much smaller
This was the same cactus around September of last year
In a year it has gotten huge and went from one flower to covered in flowers
@SirLiquorice really cool to see the process, mine also got a lot bigger when I took good care of him
@SirLiquorice what a huge flowers, they are really beautiful
