Anyway to save this plant?
16โ pot with drainage
Last watered 4 years ago
@FunPeanut the temperature is about 30 celcius but donโt know about the humidity
@sarahsalith what do you mean by ruling out the root?
@CivicPixiecap well, if at one point it was overwatered, the roots could have been damaged. If the roots are damaged, the plant might not be able to recover.
30ยฐ C is about 86ยฐ F so I would say that's pretty warm. Has the soil dried out too much at one point? That would also make sense that the leaves shriveled in the heat.
There's one way you can tell if the plant is still alive: take a sharp, clean knife and gently scratch the surface of the stem. If it's green, it's good. If it's brown, it's dead. You can do it near the soil and nearer to the top. You can also bend the branches, starting at the tip. If they snap, they are dead. If they bend and go right back, they are still alive.
I wish you the best. I look forward to seeing your reply.

@sarahsalith there is a bit of green at the base here, while everything above seems brown. Should I cut everything above the green portion off?
@CivicPixiecap that's what I would do. The dead stems aren't helping the plant.
@sarahsalith thanks, I always thought cutting off stuff would hurt the plant. But without leaves, would the plant be able to survive ?
@CivicPixiecap oh- and I don't think your is close to dead. (: The flowers just faded. That happens. They'll grow back with proper care.
@CivicPixiecap You'll soon find out. Nature has a way. If those roots are still good, there is hope. Even leaving dead leaves on a plant isn't helping. If there was even one green leaf, I'd leave that stem.
@sarahsalith Ohhh thatโs cool, but since there arenโt any green leaves and the stems above are brown, I should just cut them off right?
@FunPeanut okay, thanks for you help! Iโm worried that if I leave a tray of water below, it would breed germs and mosquitoes
@FunPeanut will do, thanks for your advice!
