Areca palm help!

I bought this Areca about 3 weeks ago. Shortly after I got it, it started drooping and turning dark brown. Some leaves have spots and have become skinny. I place it right by the window in my apartment and don’t think I’ve watered it that much. I just transferred it to a new pot and I’m wondering how much more soil is needed to cover the bottom adequately. All and any tips are appreciated. #SadPlant #ArecaPalm #newbiesofgreg
@DoughtyRedbetel Welcome to the Greg community! An Areca palm with drooping fronds turning brown is most likely a sign of underwatering; when the plant doesn't receive enough water, the leaves will start to droop and turn brown at the tips due to dehydration. It looks to me that there’s not enough soil in the pot Is it planted at the same depth as it was when you got it?? Does the Pot it’s in have drainage holes? Areca palms thrive in humid environments, so dry air can cause leaf browning and drooping. If the soil is poorly draining or compacted, it can hinder water absorption and cause root issues. Additionally you might want to: Stick your finger into the soil to check if it's dry; if so, water the plant thoroughly.
Adjust watering frequency:
Based on the soil moisture, adjust your watering schedule to ensure the soil is consistently moist but not soggy.
Increase humidity:
Consider misting the leaves regularly or using a humidifier to add moisture to the air.
Fertilize properly:
Use a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted according to the instructions.
Inspect for pests:
Check for signs of pests like scale insects which can contribute to plant stress. Happy Growing!
