My peace Lily needs repotting, can someone give me advice...

#PeaceLily
1ft to light, indirect
14” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 weeks ago
I just had to repot three of them for my client. I placed them on their side and slowly worked them out of the pots. They were all totally root bound and pot bound so I had to cut through roots and trim the roots to get them all untangled. It was slow tedious work. I used my fingers to gently comb through the roots to get all of the soil off. Of course these hadn’t been repotted in years. Once they were free, I filled the new pot and made holes in the soil to place all the divisions instead of them being all stuck in one spot. I gave them a nice soak in the sink for about 45 minutes and then let them drain. They had a bit of transplant shock but nothing major. They are much happier now and doing well. That’s how I did it and I’m sure others will share how they do theirs.
@Ninabeena thank you so very much!
@KnightlyKatsura You are so very welcome. πŸ€—
Would you kindly tell me what kind of potting soil you used? I have a waxed bulb that needs to be potted 😊
@HappyHome I had to have my husband get it for me, I think he just grabbed the first bag he saw that said potting soil! Haha! I went ahead and used it - Miracle-Grow potting mix.
Hi Alice! I suggest a good chunky soil for all plants, I like to mix potting soil, perlite and orchid bark. It helps drain the water properly so the roots don’t stay wet for too long. @KnightlyKatsura
@HappyHome Hi Sylvia. I suggested a soil mix under this post that might help you.
I always soak my plants before transplanting them. This helps with getting out of their old pots. Of course if they are severely root bound, Nina has the answer!
Water before transplant. Mine needs repotting too. I’ve seen Sheffield made plants on YouTube just cut off a third of the roots on plants when repotting and not untangling the roots at all. Just cut and drop into soil. Up
I transplanted my beautiful
Peace Lilly about a few days ago. She arrived looking so beautiful, with dark green leaves and 2 long shoots of Lilys. However, she was severely root bound.
I gave her a good soaking and let her drip in my dish rack. Transplanted her from a 2"inch plastic pot to a 4".
Used Miracle-Gro and patted the soil down but not to firmly.
Anyway...the next morning I was amazed and delighted.
My beautiful lady's leaves πŸƒ had a deeper green and she sprouted 3 new Lillys!
For a total of 5.
I have been misting her every 3 days or so and she seems to enjoy it.
Oh...forgot to add...I purchased her about 3 weeks ago, along with 5 others, from Costa Farms.
They are arrived healthy and beautiful and are thriving.
A word to the wise...you probably don't anyway...but don't purchased any indoor plants from Walmart.
I ordered them sight unseen, all in bad condition, they had planted them without any care or compassion.
I wish that we could see the whole post that we write.
I have my own spelling errors and spell check did some also!
