Discolouration on new growth; how do I fix?

#ZebraCalathea
1ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
@Bethabuck - Hello Bethany πŸ₯°

The discoloration looks like it’s been overwatered!!
Calatheas are EXTREMELY picky and their leaves discolor VERY easily!! Over or under watering happens the most with them!

Do you have a self watering pot you can put it in??
I have a bunch and all of mine are in self watering!! It helps out a LOT! You can’t over or underwater and it adds humidity!!

They also LOVE higher humidity! If the humidity levels are low, that can also cause discoloration!

Unless it’s a pest issues…..
@JenniferNoel im wondering if it’s a pest issue, I was gifted a plant that was hiding fungus gnats so around that particular plant my other ones were infected with it. I don’t have a self watering pot but I should look into into it honestly. It has exploded in growth since I had it as it was only three leafs big back in February. I pulled the plant up a bit and the roots look good and white but they are starting to spiral around the pot it seems. I may just overhaul it later today
Update. I asked my family member that had a lot of these plants and apparently it’s leaf spot πŸ₯²β˜ΉοΈ I think most of the plant is infected. Time to put it in quarantine
