Leaves turning black
#TropicalPitcherPlant hello all! I got this plant a few weeks ago, and I repotted it here. Sometimes I leave water in the plastic base. I know the pitchers arenβt there or are dead, I didnβt know how to take care of the pitcher it had! Any advice helps

Hello! Welcome to the #GregGang #GregFam. They do like to sit in about one inch of DISTILLED water never regular water. Regular water has too much minerals etc... They need some soil with no nutrients. you can go to California Carnivores and they have care information on all carnivores! Hope this helps! Good luck!π»πΏπͺ΄ππ΅
@BestMint88 Remember that they love humidity as well! I mist mine several times a day! Good Luck!πͺ΄π
Hi, Millie!
Nepenthes do like to stay moist but should not be left to sit in water. Unlike bog loving carnivores like Vftβs and Trumpet pitchers, tropical pitcher plants hail from rainforests and should be allowed to drain out all that water, or they will rot.
As for why the leaves are black, itβs likely due to a mix of overwatering and natural life processes (the plants shed leaves they donβt need as they grow). Iβd remove it from the standing water asap and let the soil get a little bit drier (not fully dry) before resuming watering.
Hope this helps! Happy growing! πΊπ΄
