#Anthurium
4ft to light, indirect
4” pot without drainage

This thing was in really bad shape.... It had a HUGE ROOT SYSTEM took up the whole bowl... To bad it was basically all ROT! I basically got it for free from HD 😃. So this was what I have managed to save. I got the plant on mother's day so it's been quite a few weeks. I need to know if I am hurting this plant by leaving these leaves on.... Cuz it's probably fungus infection on the foliage??? ðŸĪ·ðŸžâ€â™€ïļ I am currently giving it it's routine peroxide bath. Cleaning the bowl. It has a little bit of new growth so it wants to live... I just not sure I am going about this rehab the right way.... Any help would be 😎. Thanks!!!
Fungal infections don't live in the foliage, they live in the roots. Root rot is a fungal infection caused by lack of oxygen reaching the roots. It's good you removed all the rotted roots and placed what's left of the plant in water. The leaves with brown spots are fine to leave on, they're not hurting the plant and in fact are helping it photosynthesize and produce energy. You don't need to continue doing the peroxide treatment now that the root rot has been dealt with, just replace the water once a week (or more often if you notice it's getting cloudy/murky) and leave it alone so new roots can grow. Once the roots are at least 3-4" long, you can transfer to soil. Good luck! 👍
The spots would be more humidity issue in this case. Fungal usually appears as black or golden spots, like speckling. But even so it only happens if you mist [which is why i don't recommend misting. Get a humidifier]
Thanks guys! I actually do have a hydragameter and it's reading around 70% but is a cheap analog one, that I calibrated myself with some salt and Tupperware 😆 I should probably get something a little more reliable. When I got this plant I actually purchased another one (just add ice gammies) we made a special trip because I killed the last anthurium I had after a year! And I just noticed that this second one I got is also browning in the leaves! I think I will try a small humidifier, and if that doesn't work I may just have to give up on these anthuriums all together.ðŸĨī. One last question though if you don't mind.... Any thoughts on LECA? Would that help the situation any? Or I have also seen people use a "moss collar"?
