any ideas what this guy is?

i rescued this guy from a thrift shop that had him literally in only rocks, and didn’t water him. i can’t figure out what type of plant he is though.

@newplantgirlies ok phew, well that clears it up then! Thank you for confirming 😛 So in that case, yes, you definitely have a type of aloe. Not sure exactly which type, but once it grows more it should be easier to ID. I'm guessing it didn't get much light in the thrift store, based on its color. Just be careful with watering. Since aloe are native to arid environments, they can easily rot if the soil stays damp for too long. Make sure it gets some direct sun, morning sun would be best. The leaves can burn if it gets too much.
When you took it out of the rocks and put him in soil, was there a bulb just beneath the surface? Are the leaves thick and succulent like, or soft and tender?
@stephonicle no bulb, just roots and a the two babies. the leaves are thick and succulent like, and they have little spikes but they aren’t sharp.
@newplantgirlies other than the sharp tip, are there tiny teeth running along the leaf edges?
@stephonicle yes there are
@newplantgirlies Sorry to be a pain, but is there any way you can take a closeup photo of the leaves? Or even just *a* leaf. There are a few different things it could be so would need to see more detail of the leaves to say for sure ☺️
@stephonicle this was the best i could get, my phone did not want to focus, lol!
It looks like it’s in the aloe family
@newplantgirlies Omg, I just realized something....this entire time I thought it was most likely an aloe species, BUT those pups were really throwing me off! Aloe grow pups from their base, so they're attached to the parent plant. But these pups aren't attached and look similar to how a snake plant produces pups. Then it dawned on me: someone probably REMOVED the pups and planted them separately like this🤦🏻‍♀️ Duh! I was totally stumped, thinking "what is this strange aloe-like plant growing pups like it has rhizomes?!?" Lol! 😂

So just out of curiosity, was it like that when you bought it at the thrift shop, or did you move the pups when you repotted?
@stephonicle the pups were attached to the base of the larger plant! when i bought it there was no dirt, and i only got the bare root plant. so i repotted it.
@stephonicle awesome!! thanks so much for all the help id’ing this guy!
