Any tips on repotting?
One of my pride and joys, any tips on how to repot without losing a bunch of leaves?
UPDATE: only wanted to repot because my kitten was messing with it and I have a bunch of leaves that fell off. I wanted to throw them in the current pot but there's no room, I can't even see the soil. I'm already planning on making another plant for a friend! I just wanted my plant to be more full :-) Added some additional pictures as well #HappyPlants #SucculentSquad repotting">#repotting repottinghelp">#repottinghelp

@charlenebean well she looks gorgeously healthy, so great job! This is one of those plants that you will lose a lot of leaves if you repot, no matter what. ๐ฌ If you bring the water and the (small amounts) of fertilizer, she can stay in the same pot for a long time.
I would avoid any non necessary repots as much as you can, but, if you do, hereโs what I would suggest.
Plan to repot a day or two after her watering day. Have your new pot already set up partially filled with your new soil, and close by. Make two stacks of books almost the height of the pot. Place them with enough space inbetween for the pot to slide in. Gently lay whatever dangling branches you can onto the book stacks, so they will support her branches while you take the pot off. This might be difficult. You will lose leaves so dont feel too badly about them, just put them back on top of the soil when youโre done. Use a butter knife to slide around the edges if itโs stuck. After you get it off try to get her into the new pot without a lot of fuss.
Good luck!!! ๐๐๐ผ ๐ซถ๐ผ

Oh my goodness, sheโs BEAUTIFUL. If it were meโฆIโd be asking โIs it dire to repot right now?โ So what is your repotting reason? If sheโs breaking her pot, or completely tipping over I could see it being necessary, OR sheโs so big that sheโs going through water so fast now that itโs annoying to water so often.
@DreamMachine thank you so much ๐ started taking care of her a year ago and sheโs changed completely! My kitten was swatting at it and I have so many leaves.. hence why the bottom is barren ๐ญ I wanted to repot to a wider pot and add the leaves around the sides. Iโve also had it in this pot since Dec 2024. I canโt even see the soil anymore haha
@charlenebean Your plant is STUNNING! Iโm with @DreamMachine about avoiding a repot as long as possible. I feel like it might be losing leaves right now because it knows Iโm looking at it ๐ซฃ
@HipIvorytowers I wanted to add it to a wider pot because my kitten was messing with it and I have a lot of loose leaves. I wanted to put it in a wider pot and throw them around the edges. When looking into the pot I canโt see the soil anymore and thereโs no room to do this.. Iโm going to make another plant to give to a friend though! But thatโs mainly why I wanted to repot
@ImpartialMakole thank you! Itโs very healthy :-) no roots coming out from the bottom from what I can see, I have a lot of extra leaves I wanted to throw into the pot but thereโs no room to do so :-(
@DreamMachine thank you so much for this! I really appreciate it
@ImpartialMakole they do! I have a few succulents Iโm currently propagating from the leaves :-) I can definitely make another plant out of this one! Thank you so much
@HipIvorytowers probably! I just put that stand underneath it randomly but I could probably set up something else
