@AlertMoneytree if you have gnats in your cactus that means the soil is staying wet too long and that can lead to root rot. Now, you could wait for the soil to dry out which should get rid of them (that takes a little time) or you could change the soil (which I suggest) and that will get rid of them. If your soil is staying wet that long, it's too organic for succulents/cacti. I would suggest a chunky/gritty succulent mix with added perlite for extra drainage and aeration and that should dry out fast enough where the flies won't lay their babies in the soil.
