Wrinkly living rocks update: one week later… still wrinkl...
I posted about this little thing last week. Got a pair of living rock lithops from #lowesdeathrow , I separated them because one was super wrinkly and soft and the other was firm and plump. They have separate stems and root systems. I top-watered the wrinkly one thoroughly. Over a week later and it’s still just as soft and wrinkly, and now the firm one is getting wrinkly too! I took them out of their pots to look at their roots. The roots don’t look rotted, but they look very shriveled. Can roots get so dry that they can’t rehydrate anymore? I have watered both multiple times this week, but never more than once daily, and letting them dry out in between. They’re wet in these pics because I swished them in water to expose the roots. Any thoughts? #LithopsArmy #SucculentSquad

I wish I could give you a good answer! I feel I am still too much a novice when it comes to these . Maybe @stephongreg @MockingJay can help?
I am no expert either 🙈 But you might be right and they will need some time to manage to grow new roots if they are completly shriveled up. That said I would be careful watering that much, it is the main reason for killing these..
The one in the first pictures (I guess that is the "healtiest" one?) looks like it should have some functioning roots, although they might have been broken from the plant during handeling.
The last one looks like most of the roots are dried up, but also that it has one fresh new root!
My advise would be, try to be patient, things take a long time with these plants😅
