How is this plant toxic? I have it on my window in my kit...

#Kalanchoe
0ft to light, direct
2โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
@GemQuince14 It's toxic to cats and dogs as well as humans if its stems, flowers or leaves are ingested. It contains toxins that cause gastrointestinal and heart complications. So make sure neither you or your pets can't get to it. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿชด
@princesspitstop thank you for answering
@GemQuince14 No problem ๐Ÿ˜ They are beautiful when they flower! You're going to enjoy it.
I had no clue they flower! Any success stories to share on how to get it to bloom?
@ElectricHighway They will flower on their own with maturity in late fall/early spring. There is a way to encourage flowering by using light restriction. Similar in the way you get a Holiday Cactus to bloom. A Kalancho plant requires 12 to 14 hours of absolute uninterrupted darkness everyday for about 6 weeks. Since they regularly Bloom beginning late fall I would start restricting light sometime in mid-october by putting a box over the plant or placing it in a dark closet 6 weeks before you are wanting it to bloom. You can get more information online by searching "Florist Kalancho light restriction" ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘
