Hi Pearl, I donβt think itβs in its last leg. My first look- the brown part looks like corking, to me. Corking is a natural process that occurs when cacti grow, giving it support as they get bigger. Itβs hard for me to see whatβs βprunyβ, but I do see some wrinkling, which is the plant telling you it needs water. I donβt see any rot in his roots. I might suggest repotting (if itβs still out of the pot) using a soil mix of 50%cactus/succulent soil, and 50% perlite. Put him in direct sun for 6-8 hours a day, if you can, or 12-14 hours of grow light per day. Your plant id says you last watered 22 days ago. Once you put him back in the pot- do not water for 3-4 days, and then water but do a bottom water. Let it drink for 30 minutes, or until you can feel the top of the soil is moist. Then make sure it isnβt sitting in any water. Not knowing where you live and what your climate it, I canβt tell you how often to water- I live in Texas and all 40 or so of my cacti are outside so Iβm watering every 7-10 days due to the 100 degree heat. I hope this helps!
