Mold on my โ€˜lemon limeโ€™???

Is this mold? Im not sure what Iโ€™ve done wrong, I hardly water it as it is winter in the UK and it sits in a north facing window. The soil has been damp for a while now so I havenโ€™t watered in a month or two. Itโ€™s only felt dry today so Iโ€™ve watered it and noticed this. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #LemonLimePrayerPlant

This kind of white โ€˜moldโ€™ (in quotes because I believe it might be a fungus) is harmless from what I gather, and naturally occurringโ€”helping break down organic matter. But it does flourish in wet soil. If your soil has been staying danp for a month or two you might need to add some aeration to it, like perlite, pumice, bark, coco chips.

I would also be concerned about root rot if itโ€™s been damp for that long. Root rot is caused by a bacteria and will need to be treated with something like hydrogen peroxide if itโ€™s present. Look for any mushy roots, or when the outer root sloughs off leaving a tiny root hair in the center. You will need to trim any affected parts with sterilized scissors/knife, soak the the root ball in a 1 part water to 3 parts 3% hydrogen peroxide for 5 minutes, and repot in fresh soil.
