Where to cut?

Last week I had to repot my mother's day orchid due to significant root rot. She lost the last of her flowers today, but I'm hoping to give her the best chance at recovery. Can someone show me the best place to cut the flower spikes to allow her to heal and regrow? A diagram with arrows would be helpful 😆

If the spikes are green you can leave them.
 I love your username!

If the spike is still green, you can keep it attached to the plant. Often times, plants can re-bloom in the right circumstances.

Mine bloomed a month or so ago and I'm just now losing the flowers. I will keep the stems attached because they have bloomed multiple times from the same stems.

Thanks!
I've had a mini orchid rebloom from the spike several times, but I didn't know if it would be better to cut these to help it recover from the root rot.
@didikillit some people swear by cutting the flower spikes- I don't. When people do encourage one another to cut the flower stem, they cut it about a third of an inch from the bottom. (:
