HELP! Is this scale on my snake plant ? @Kiersten

#SnakePlant
0ft to light, indirect
10” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
Looks like it. 😬 How many leaves are affected?
@sarahsalith about 4. Should I cut them off and pray? Is there any other thing that’s not a pest that can cause tan spots? Some are indented
@Hayleyb11 I would first using rubbing alcohol and removing all the scale.

Scale, if treating small infestations, responds well to pruning and rubbing alcohol. For larger infestations, you’ll likely need to discard your plant.
@KikiGoldblatt thank you! Since I just bought this plant two days ago the shop is letting me bring it back for an exchange or refund. I don’t want to deal with it!
Too bad. Very much like it. But you stand a good chance of clearing them out on a snake plant than other tender plants. Get a good wipe and get to work. Cheers
Can you wipe it away with your finger? Or does it take scratching it with your nail to remove them? That’s a good way to test if it’s scale or just scarring!
@Kiersten any idea if you were to scratch it off would it leave a mark where the scale was attached to the plant? I'm having a similar "is it scale" dilemma on an Aloe plant. It seems to have left behind little "pock marks" where I used my finger nail to scratch it off.
@Kiersten needed to scratch with my nail. The seller confirmed it was scale because the whole bunch ended up being infested!
@didikillit You’ll be able to remove scale without scratching it. Just a gentle nudge will cause it to fall off.

If it’s leaving a wound, it’s likely just normal scars that don’t need to be removed. When scale comes off it may leave a very faint, small discoloration but never anything that alters the texture of the leaf
@Kiersten thank you! I've been Google searching for days and couldn't find a suitable answer!
