Bottom leaves turning yellow
Hello #SucculentSquad! My sedum treleasei, Mando, is slowly losing his leaves. I water only when the soil is dry (I need to water today) and he is under a growing light. Any suggestions what could I do? I am afraid I am going to lose him. ๐ญ

Your sedum is going dormant. It needs deep, infrequent watering to stay happy. It also needs a lot of artificial light around the clock to make up for its natural light needs. When you grow indoors, itโs best to add a little grit to the potting soil so that water drains even faster. Remember that you are growing under artificial light therefore you need better drainage. Add some pumice stone or mineral grit to the potting mix (50/50 is recommended) when growing indoors. Deep infrequent waterings means itโs not on a schedule but in an as-needed basis. Right now, it doesnโt look like it needs water because if that translucent leaf. Allow the soil to dry out completely. My sedums get watered every 12-17 days because of they are growing indoors. I donโt have an exact schedule because they donโt need it. I just go by the way the leaves look. I have a tendency to let them go for longer too if they still look good. I use lightd with a high output and they run 14 hours a day. The soil is amended with volcanic pumice. The lower the light, the less water it needs be side it thinks its winter and needs to go dormant. Having a regular watering schedule right now floods the plant and causes subsequent death. First sign is translucent leaves falling off and then black spots on the stem. You should wait until the soil comes out of the bottom when you lift it from the tray or shelf as a sign itโs time to water. Thatโs when you give it a good watering. No set schedules.

@ProBeachsuncup seems over watered since the pot is big, and you watered it when the soil is dry. Succulents usually need to wait for a few days when the soil is bone dry before watering.
