New growth is long and skinny.
Hi everyone, I need help. I’m not too good at keeping succulents alive but I really really try because I love them! Well, I have been seeing this new skinny-leggy growth on these top leaves and can’t figure out why it’s doing this. And it looks like more will be appearing. How do reverse this or fix it to get them thick like the others?
Hi @UnflaggingSalsa
Adjusting temperature and light might help. Especially now during winter, the sun/light gets weaker but we keep it warm indoor.
For my succulents I let them get a "resting" period in a cooler room with growlights, it makes them plump and nice. Before I started doing this I got the same problem as you, the leaves started stretching. I really think they appriciate the cooler temperature (about 13-15 degrees celsius).🪴
If you don't have a cooler place for them to rest you absolutly should consider growlight, the pale color also indicates it is not getting enough.

@MockingJay thank you for that info! It currently sits between 69deg-75deg Fahrenheit and it faces a NE window. I don’t move it, I just open and close the blinds to adjust the amount of sunlight. So does it need to be in a much cooler temp now with a grow light? I’ve haven’t used a grow light yet, and I live in a desert climate with low to mid humidity.
@UnflaggingSalsa if you are in the northern hemisphere i would think the NE facing will give it too little light.
It might definitly help giving it more light and/or a little cooler temperature. But why don't you try with changing 1 thing first and see how it responds?😉 (Although be careful with sudden changes, do the change gradually or it might get sunburn or stressed).

@MockingJay ok I’m definitely going to take your advise, I don’t want to make things worse with my black thumb lol. I appreciate the info, and you taking the time to respond to me. Thank you.
