What is this ring around the plant in the soil?

There are also some fuzzies in the soil but I don't see anything crawling on the plant itself.

The death ring! It’s actually one of those fabric pods that the plant started in. I would take the plant out and remove it.

Ugh, whyyyyy do plant places still do this. It’s just as bad as the core they sell the orchids in 😫

@Boymom-plantmom thank you! This makes me feel a lot better now haha I thought it was mold or something weird although now that I have to take the plant out I'm scared it will die after, but we'll see 😂
