Why are the leaves two different shades?
I had this plant for merely three months now and Iโve noticed the new growth has grown into a different shade of green.
What may this mean & why is it happening?
Thank you in advance. โค๏ธ

@Nxbaby7 Wax plant leaves have different shades of green due to varying amounts of chlorophyll, which can be caused by factors like age, genetics, light exposure, and even the plant's specific cultivar. New leaves are often lighter and darken as they mature, while some varieties, known as variegated Hoyas, inherently have patches of white or other colors due to a lack of chlorophyll in those areas, or produce new leaves that are red or pink due to high-light stress.
Yep, @Ms.Persnickety is absolutely correct when they are new leaves they have less chloroplasts which is what produces the chlorophyll.
The other reason is the leaves are thinner and they have less of the waxy protective outer layer built up which allows more light to pass through the leaf. So the green looks lighter.
Chlorophyll also gives you the green pigments that make the leaves that dark green color so with more chlorophyll with age their color deepens. ๐
