What components do you guys have on orchid soil mix?
I was thinking of using one part perlite, one part bark, a bit of coco peat and a bit of sphagnum moss.
What do you all think? Or what ratios do you guys use?

There are a few ingredients that can be combined to make a good mix for your orchids. Handful of Perlite, and charcoal, 1 part spagnum moss, most important 2 parts orchid bark or a shredded fir bark. Your orchid will thank you for a very airy medium to grow in. You can also use a potting soil pre-made for orchids and amend this with bark and some perlite if needed. The chunkier your mix the better.
It depends on the type of orchid too. If they are epiphytes - they grow on trees (like phals and oncidiums), they need an airy media as they are prone to rot if water sits in the pot for too long and they need to breathe. They need a wet/dry cycle between waterings too, so youβd be looking at a media that dries up well in your home environment. Like others have said, your climate and home environment will make a huge difference to what media you choose. My flat is quite humid and so is my country, so coconut husk/coir and sphagnum moss donβt give my roots the wet/dry cycle they need as they take forever to dry out. But they work well if you are in a hot climate and/or have low humidity. If you have a terrestrial orchid and the roots need to stay damp, then sphagnum and coconut husk/coir work really well.
