Have a question about my bay laurel. Should the soil dry...
2ft to light, direct
12โ pot with drainage
Last watered 2 days ago
She won't do well indoors long term unless you put her in a south facing window. They need a lot of light. If you keep her in a west window you really need to supplement with a grow light.
That being said indoors watering her when the top 1-2 inches is dry like google says will be way too much water. She will end up with root rot from sitting in wet soil too long.
Allow her to be nearly dry before watering and then if you can add humidity. That will be very beneficial indoors. Here are some tips to increase humidity. The bonus of humidity is you won't need to water as often and your bay laurel will love it.
Ways to add humidity
1. Add a humidifier, but only use distilled water in it.
2. Add a pebble tray filled with water below your plant. But make sure the pot is never in the water. As water evaporates it increases humidity.
3. Cluster plants together. It will make water evaporate from your leaves in a process called transpiration. It effectively creates a mini microclimate with extra humidity.
Never mist, it does not increase humidity but will cause fungal and bacterial infections.
