White dots?

#Hoya I’m new to this plant world. I received this plant as a gift from someone’s garden. I recently noticed the plant has some white specs. What’s going on?
2ft to light, indirect
5” pot with drainage

@3ecks Hi Becky, it could be those little nasty mite pests! Tiny white dots is usually some kind of pest! I would spray the entire plant with Neem oil and Peppermint oil or just buy a pesticide at the store. I would keep it away from your other plants for now until you get them taken care of. You may need to spray the entire plant once a week for a few weeks but it will get rid of them for good! I wish you the very best of luck! πŸͺ΄πŸŒΌ
It could potentially also be springtails which are completely fine and not a pest. Is it on the base of the plant and in the soil or higher up the plant? Usually springtails hang around in the pot and sometimes wander over the bottom of the plant, pests will be munching on new growth.
What others said above me, mealybugs leave some white residue on leaves so you couldn't check for them, but those also could be natural dicolorations! Some hoyas develop little white splotches on their leaves, like on the attached photo, it's totally harmless
It’s just on the leaves. I do have a spray that has neem oil. I did spray last week - the soil is fantastictic. Nothing going on there.
Mine get the white specs as well.. I say it’s from the nutrients … it’s fine they are not from pests.
