Is this a Whale fin?

The tag just says Assorted Tropicals, the apps just say Sensevaria, but chat gpt said 100% yes lol I like anything variegated so he’s a keeper regardless! Thanks in Advance and fingers crossed! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict
Whale fins do tend to have broader leaves than other sansevieria/dracena plants so it could be! 😊

I'm curious about the leaf growth though - are they all coming from the same growth point? I could be wrong on this but I thought the other main distinction with whale fin plants is that they grow singular leaves? I only have the experience of only having one, so others on here may know more.

Here's mine with its four leaves growing out of the same rhizome but they're next to each other. Had a hard time getting the angle right but hope you can see what I mean?

You've got a great looking plant though! I love variegated plants too but have a hard time getting the lighting right.
This looks like a regular snake plant to me, not a whale fin snake plant. Like @ballondusoleil mentioned, whale fins are typically have just a single giant leaf. Based on the variegation, yours look like a Dracaena laurentii (that just happened to grow an especially broad leaf lol). By the way, snake plants were formally classified as Sanseveria but were reclassified as Dracaena about 10 years ago 🤓
@ballondusoleil yeah I kind of thought the main attraction is because it’s ONE big leaf, this one doesn’t look like yours so I probably have a knock off 😉 whatever it is, I think it’s pretty close so I’m happy! Especially considering I’ve only seen a true fin, ONE other time in my area. they were at Home Depot and sold out the same day, I’ve wanted one ever since, ugh I’m still kicking myself for not buying it when I had it in my hands!
@stephongreg that’s how it came up in a different app my friend uses. Thanks for the history on the name, I was kind of getting confused trying to figure it out myself … exactly why I gave up and came here lol now it all makes sense!!!
Yeah, whale fins aren't regularly in stock in my area and they're expensive! - I lucked out and found mine on sale. I'm sure they'll come around again at some point and if anything they'll maybe be more affordable next time around 🤞
