Noooo π never had these guys on a Hoya but I feel like it...
Last watered 4 days ago
Those miserable buggers.
For the Hindu Rope plant I recommend a submerged bath. That will be the only way to really get rid of them due to all the nooks and crannies.
1 tablespoon Castile soap + 1 gallon water
Mix up enough to submerge entire plant pot and all!!!
Stick in the soapy water in a bucket completely submerged for 30 minutes. That will kill the eggs, larvae, and adult mealies with one treatment.
If the outbreak is really bad you may have to repeat but usually once will do it. β€οΈ

This is the hardest Hoya to remove mealyβs on. Get a spray bottle mix it with water and rubbing alcohol and spray it down. If youβre worried about leaf damage wait a few minutes and then you can rinse off.. but the alcohol kills them on contact fast!! You can see them change color when they die with the alcohol. Isolate your plant and check weekly for new buggies. If they are not going away after a couple of treatments you may have to repot into fresh medium.
Oooh itβs tough but I got rid of mealies on my compacta. Definitely donβt use neem though!! Itβs too oily, you have to spray multiple times to get all the life cycles, and I felt eventually smothered many leaves causing them to yellow and die. I wish Iβd started with insecticidal soap instead. I really like Captain Jackβs insecticidal βSuperβ soap with spinosad because that one hits thrips too if you ever have to get rid of those buggers!!!
