Trellis or Moss Pole?
I’m thinking of using a trellis or moss pole for some trailing plants. The thing is: I’ve never used them. So, I’m hoping y’all might have some pros/cons for them and maybe how to use them.
I have a few different color variations of Spiderwort/Tradescantia plants and several types of Pothos that I’m thinking could use them now. I have a Mini Monstera that could use one when it gets a little bigger. And eventually I want to get a Swiss Cheese Philo.
But the spiderworts will probably be first as I’m starting to think they want a different spot with a little less light. (I’m testing out that theory. I moved them and watching to see how they react or change.) Though, the new spot would need them climbing a trellis or moss pole.
Thoughts?

Tradescantia in nature are crawlers. They sprawl out, so I don’t know how they would do on a trellis? The trellis vs the moss pole achieves something a little different with each, which might be good to note. The trellis offers support to climb, where as the moss pole (I prefer coco coir poles) is used to provide support but also moisture for the aural roots of growing plants.
Depending on the pothos type would be what I would recommend. Cebu Blue and Baltic Blue would go for a pole as it helps their fenestrations and the size of their leaves.
Let add some hashtags to get this in more people’s feeds so someone can correct me if I am wrong #MossPole #Trellises #PothosPack #TradescantiaNanouk #TradescantiaTroupe #GregGang

Hey great question! I feel like it depends on the plant, and your preference. Personally I prefer trellis for my pothos, and wandering dudes. They are more versatile and I can position them how I want. With larger plants that need support, or an anchor like Monstera Deliciousa, I use a moss pole and tie the plant to the pole. However, it's not "bad" or "wrong" whatever you choose. I personally like making my own trellis (copper wire 😊) so I may be a bit bias lol
